OUR STORY
Wilderness Lodge owners and hosts, Sam & Tamara Clark, homesteaded and built Yukon River Lodge the ‘old Alaskan’ way over the last 15 years with the help of family and friends. They are the real deal (no Alaskan reality TV show here, just the real thing). They both love to share their Alaskan adventures with guests and help guests comfortably experience the Yukon River Oasis that is Yukon River Lodge.
Sam and Tamara run the lodge by themselves, and because Tamara is often working away in Alaska's oilfields, Sam is a one man show much of the time. As a Wilderness Jack of All Trades, he does everything from upkeep and maintenance on generators, logging and trail work, to managing day to day lodge operations and taking care of their 3 pet dogs. He's also a credentialed Six-pack OUPV Charter Boat Captain, Wilderness Fishing/Ecotrip Guide and an expert at living alone in the Alaskan Bush for long periods of time.
THE LODGE
Simply Alaskan
At the end of an incredible day on the river, our guests enjoy hanging out by the fire pit in front of the lodge and watching the Mighty Yukon roll by. The lodge has a main Great Room overlooking the river where guests relax by the wood stove, as well a breakfast bar and more formal dining area where we dine on home cooked meals and socialize in the evening hours.
We have three guest rooms in the lodge (2 with private shower/sink and 1 with a shared shower/sink). Each guest room has two twin beds and room for an extra cot or sleeping pad on the floor. In September, for overflow, we also offer a full service platform wall tent with wood stove.
Due to our remote location and the difficulties of maintaining full septic systems in the wilderness, we don't have toilets in the lodge at this time. Instead, we enjoy a more sustainable option and take in the wonders of nature on our way to clean & tidy outhouses located a short walk from the lodge.
