Wilderness Lodge owners and hosts, Sam & Tamara Clark, homesteaded and built Yukon River Lodge the ‘old Alaskan’ way over the last 14 years with the help of family and friends.  They are the real deal (no Alaskan reality TV show here, just the real thing).  They both love to share their Alaskan adventures with guests and help guests comfortably experience their amazing Yukon River, the 3rd longest river in North America.

Sam is our lodge Wilderness Guide and credentialed Six-pack OUPV Charter Boat Captain. He also runs our lodge fuel station (we sell fuel right at the river for boats - your friendly Yukon River Marina). He's a jack of all trades and spends most of his time in the Alaskan Bush. He still wishes he was born 150 years ago when the pace of life was slower and Alaska was much wilder than it is today.  He's also a big fan of Richard Proenneke's life at Twin Lakes - if you haven't heard of Dick's adventures, check out our friend John Branson's book More Readings From One Man's Wilderness: The Journals of Richard L. Proenneke.

Tamara is our Lodge Office Manager and Naturalist with a degree in Wildlife Ecology. She's also a Nature Inspiration Coach and Forest Reiki Energy Practitioner.  You can find her on Instagram @AlaskaWildInspiration.  When she's not at the lodge she's either on the North Slope working in Alaska's Oilfields or traveling because the river ice isn't safe to cross.

Rustic Wilderness Luxury

At the end of an incredible day on the river, our guests enjoy hanging out by the fire pit in front of the lodge and watching the Mighty Yukon roll by or sitting in the screen tent a little closer to the river. The lodge has a main Great Room overlooking the river where guests relax by the wood stove, as well a breakfast bar and more formal dining area where we dine on home cooked meals and socialize in the evening hours.

We have three guest rooms in the lodge (2 with private shower/sink and 1 with a shared shower/sink).  Each guest room has two twin beds and room for an extra cot or sleeping pad on the floor.  In September, for overflow, we also offer a full service platform wall tent with wood stove.

Due to our remote location and the difficulties of maintaining full septic systems in the wilderness, we don't have toilets in the lodge at this time. Instead, we enjoy a more sustainable option and take in the wonders of nature on our way to clean & tidy outhouses located a short walk from the lodge.
